There are personal challenges in learning and living in the University environment. Student Support is a one stop shop for services which focus on helping you to make the most of your time at University and to cope with any problems which might arise.
Our aim is to help you get familiar with the University soon and gradually realize your academic and personal goals.
The services described here are confidential, provided in a supportive atmosphere and are staffed by well-qualified professionals.
They are available free of charge to all International students of the University (part-time and full-time, special cases to be defined if charges are needed).

Making Contact with Staff
We will see you as soon as we can and there are regular drop-in sessions but in order to avoid wasted time, it is usually best to make an appointment with the appropriate member of staff. Appointments can be made by calling in to the campus offices, by telephone or email. Telephone discussion prior to a personal meeting can assist in information and advice being given as quickly as possible.
If you are not sure who you need to see or which service might help, please look at the web pages which describe each service and see what fits you best.
Please be aware when making contact through the generic email addresses shown below or when telephoning that your message will be taken by one of our reception staff. All we need to know is who you want to see and some idea of how to contact you. When making an appointment we will usually ask for some personal information including a mobile number so that we can get in touch if any arrangements need to change.
Some people find it embarrassing to mention the service they are seeing when they arrive at Reception. You do not need to do so. You can give your own name, the name of the person you are to see or just the time of your appointment. Sometimes people arrive not knowing the name of the staff member. If you think privacy is going to be an issue for you, it is probably a good idea to make a note of this before you come.
Any other information we collect or keep is either for statistical purposes or to assist you in obtaining resources or help from other sources. If the information is of a more personal in nature it is stored anonymously under strict conditions. If there should ever be a reason for sharing this information we will ask your permission to do this.

Our staff are specially trained, skilled, dedicated and committed to seeing you through whatever difficulty you might be facing, big or small. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you would like to know more about how this might apply to you.
We will help you prepare to come to UIBE, welcome you when you arrive and support you throughout your time at UIBE.
We can offer advice and guidance on a range of issues including:
l Immigration and visa advice. The International Student Advisers offer a confidential specialist advice service, where we can answer your immigration questions and guide you through the process of applying for your visa
l We offer general support and advice on a range of issues related to your study and living in Beijing
l We organize for members of staff to greet and assist you at Beijing airports during the main arrivals or registration time. We also run a bookable coach service
from airport to the campus.
l We organize specific events for international students as part of the university's induction program, as well as social events throughout the year.
l We organize a program of day trips to various places across Beijing to enable you to make the most of your time in Beijing.
Immigration and visa, living in Beijing, working in Beijing, trips and events, welcome and arrival, study and research assistance, security and people to contact.
